Whiter than white: the shirt dress

An ode to the color that never goes out of style goes paired with a light and airy classic: the shirt dress. It may be a well-established classic, but this garment is never dull. Long, short, with a pocket, as a casual blouse, cinched around the waist with a cord or belt, or with bishop sleeves: you decide how original you want to make this dress, and age plays no role.

It may seem like summer has officially waved goodbye, but soon (maybe for the last time this year) you'll get the chance to put your shirt dress on for a gorgeous, late summer day.  You'll spot this much-coveted item at Fibre Mood too. The Filippa dress is made of a white, airy cotton that keeps the fabric from feeling sticky even when the time of the year doesn't keep temperatures from rising. It's precisely because this dress shirt is often made of fine-spun fabrics such as cotton or linen that it falls so gracefully when the waistline is accentuated: why not cinch a ribbon of cloth from the same fabric around? Or you can opt for a different print as a stunning accent, or, for instance, go for a unique vintage belt.

Just a few summers ago the classic white blouse, worn inside out, became the object of praise when famous fashion figures were seen sporting it this way during Fashion Week. Pairing the color white with a blouse is simply a “match made in heaven”. However, in 2018 the inside-out white blouse was exchanged for the shirt dress. The dress creates a summery feel and easily goes with a full-on white look, paired with a striking accessory and a pair of sneakers. Bring on those laundry loads stacked with white!

Still, various prints such as delicate striping or eccentric floral prints do prove that from time to time a little more color in life can be a good thing. What's more, autumn is lurking just around the corner, and this dress pattern in jeans or a stiffer fabric would definitely work well.
