Fashion documentaries: is there really anything nicer to watch? Not in our opinion. Watching one gorgeous design created after another by the designer's magic hands, but also sympathizing with the tough deadlines and heavy workload: that’s our cup of tea. Get a unique behind the scenes look of a world you can only dream about. It’s the full package: see what life is really like in the fashion world.

This summer we’ll take you along with us and offer you a selection of the best of the best selected by Fibre Mood. We'll start with these three. We hope you enjoy the show!

McQueen (2018)

At the top of the viewing list is the documentary of 2018. McQueen is a film about the life's work of none other than radical British designer, Lee Alexander McQueen. After his tragic death in 2010, the fashion house lives on, run by Sarah Burton. Nostalgic for the collections of the fashion mastermind McQueen, we look back on his stirring and eventful life – that of an ordinary boy from East London whose dark and mysterious art shot straight to the top of haute couture in no time flat. The designer scandalized the fashion world with unprecedented performances during the fashion weeks.

McQueen, directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, is an emotional portrait (goosebumps guaranteed) of a fashion genius.

Dior and I (2014)

One day you're just an ordinary designer and the next you're creative director at the French fashion house, Dior, where you have a mere eight weeks’ time (!) to design a full collection that would normally require months of work.

Too insane for words, right? Well, that’s what happened to Belgian designer Raf Simons. In Dior and I, we get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the entire production process of Simons' first collection first collection for Dior.

Dior and I is directed by Frédéric Tcheng, a director who's already created other fashion gems, such as Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel. This document is a serious viewing tip for the seamstresses among us – you get to see how the whole team works for days on end embroidering. The grand finale at the end reveals the F/W 2012 collection which includes a décor ensconced in flowers – a guaranteed tear-jerker moment. Dior and I is a tribute to Belgian designer Raf Simons’ start and to the Dior team. However, the film also shows the enormous pressure put on the unassuming Simons, a pressure that eventually led to his departure from Dior in 2015.

Annie Leibovitz: life through a lens (2008)

Fashion and portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz has had more than her fair share of celebrities behind her lens: from the final iconic photograph of John Lennon & Yoko Ono to the Queen and a tour with the Rolling Stones. Life through a lens, directed by her sister Barbara Leibovitz, looks back on the most memorable moments of her career. It’s a must-see for all photography lovers.
