Checks are back! Although if we're honest, were they ever really gone? You already know from our previous article on checks that this print has a rich history. From the Scottish nobility and London-born Burberry to the punk scene and the iconic Clueless of the 90s, checks have been a fashion-lover favourite since time out of mind. And it goes without saying that this pattern can be worn in countless combinations.  In the meantime, we've conveniently listed our styling tips for you.

Stealing the show

Do you simply adore the classics? In that case, stick with the tried-and-true combination with a solid. Even better, this combination sets the perfect stage for your tartan, ensuring that your make radiates wow appeal. You can’t go wrong with neutral shades, such as black, white, and brown. Fancy turning up the excitement? Pair with a colour that features in your plaid to add an extra pop to your outfit. For example, why not match a pair of checked Bea culottes with Alice in rust?

Coordination nation

Co-ord and two-piece sets – two garments made from the same fabric – are trending hard right now. These outfits look fabulous, and you can wear the pieces separately as well. What springs to mind when we think of co-ords? Well, obviously the matching tracksuit bottoms that have become our go-to during the pandemic. However, there are also great matching outfits to be worn outside of the home too. Just pictures a sweet suit or an outfit a la Cher Horowitz from Clueless. Whether it's the large checks on the Honey top or the Bea culottes’ houndstooth – your co-ord is sure to impress.

Pattern overload

This one’s for the true daredevils among you. It’s time to throw out all the lessons you've ever learnt on mixing patterns. Because really, there are so many ways mix and match plaids. The first is to combine a variety of checks. After all, why should we have to limit ourselves to just a single glorious check?

You could also take a different tack and combine different patterns together. There’s another classic that always looks a treat paired with the traditional check, i.e., houndstooth. Why not make a Luz cardigan to go with your Honey top?
